Modern Sufi Thought
The concept of Wahdat al-Wujud (Unity of Being), developed by Ibn Arabi, teaches that all existence is a manifestation of divine reality. There is only One Being, and all creation is like waves on the ocean of divine existence.
This does not mean creation is illusion, but that everything participates in divine reality. The Sufi sees God in the flower, the mountain, and the human heart - all reflecting different aspects of the divine names and attributes.
Key Insight
"Everything that exists is a sign pointing to the One who creates and sustains all."
