Mystical States
Sufis describe various states of divine encounter:
• Qabd (contraction): Feeling of spiritual tightness or dryness
• Bast (expansion): Feeling of spiritual openness and joy
• Jam (gathering): Concentration of spiritual energy
• Taft (scattering): Dissolution of spiritual focus
These states are gifts from God and should be received with gratitude. They fluctuate naturally and are not under human control.
